So a couple of days ago. Lucas, Rheagan and I where out at the local playground having a merry old time. Lucas was making short work out of the twisty slide and keeping himself happily occupied. Rheagan was using the contents of Lucas’ chalk bag to recreate Rembrandt’s The Prodigal Son ....or maybe she was just making smiley faces. Hard to say for sure.
Anyways, the next thing I know, Rheagan challenges me to a game of tic-tac-toe… and says that I can go first. With the knowledge of being able to go first, I accept the challenge. I picked up the chalk landed a big X in the center of the tic-tac-toe grid. Rheagan pauses a moment and then says "you know, tic-tac-toe is no fun unless your playing a 5-yr old". She then turns back to her Rembrandt, leaving me to consider the tic-tac-toe field of battle and the '5-year-old' comment.
I have concluded that up until the moment that I placed an X in the center of the tic-tac-toe board that she had considered me a 5-year-old (or younger!). This knowledge has made my tic-tac-toe conquest a very bittersweet victory.
I have yet to beat Rheagan at Checkers....so what does that make me? 6?
Posted by paul at April 20, 2006 11:05 PMYeah but you're really good at chess. I don't know how good Rheagan is, but I've only been able to beat you at chess a whopping ONE time, so that has to count for something?
Posted by: David W at April 22, 2006 01:08 AMThanks for the nod. But the real reason is that I always drug you before we play chess.
Posted by: ~ A at April 22, 2006 02:51 PMI won a checkers tournament at age 12 to my great surprise and have lost consistently ever since. It must be like the night I knew all the sports answers in trivial pursuit. Freaking blind luck or help from somewhere else. Maybe you are a least 12. Very mature though - the babies do that for you. Sometimes losing is a very good strategy.
