Rhorie is now 10 days old. Our early impression is that she is a bit more laid-back than Lucas. She falls asleep more easily and is less picky about where she falls asleep. However, she is, by far, a more veracious consumer of milk than Lucas ever was. Her clock seems to push her to a specific hourly routine. The routine goes something like this:
0000 - Drink milk
0005 - Drink more milk
0015 - Drink a little more milk
0020 - Take a short breather
0025 - Drink some more milk
0030 - Fall asleep
0032 - #2 in diaper
0036 - have diaper changed
0040 - #2 in diaper
0044 - have diaper changed
0044.5 - #1 in any direction
0050 - have diaper changed
0055 - flirt with Daddy, Mommy and O-Ma
0100 - Sleep
--> and repeat
I suppose that this isn’t really any different than other babies other than the fact that she has been truly very consistent. Knowing our collective gene pool, I’m not sure how she came so punctual. ?!? lol
Posted by paul at May 6, 2006 08:01 PMIt sounds like she's doing great! Newborns' tummies are only the size of their fist and breastmilk is digested very quickly so they often need to nurse constantly. Those books that say babies should nurse every 2-3 hours are totally incorrect, in my experience.
We can't wait to meet Rhorie next summer!
By the way, we'll be putting a baby gift and a VERY belated birthday gift for Lucas in the mail this week. Sorry we're so behind!
Posted by: Jen W. at May 7, 2006 12:43 AMThanks so much for the pics. What a beautiful girl. Is her hair alittle red? I see two very proud parents, please keep the pics coming when you can.
ps- I believe Lucas is sporting a Fries-style haircut.
Love to you all.
