God bless the Air Force. My whole base is taking a 4 day weekend starting today. I must say that it is a about dang time. Sometimes ol Uncle Sam works us service member types to death, but maybe it just makes us appreciate the time that we do get that much more. And for the icing on the cake: I don’t even have the office cell phone with me this weekend. Can you say “Sweet!!”?
I’m not sure why I’m still up and piddling on the computer. I think that the reason is a combination between being excited about the prospect of sleeping-in and holding out for Lucas’ midnight diaper change/snack that is now about 1 ½ hours over due. In fact, I think that this is almost the longest that he has ever slept in one go. He is already past the 4 hour mark. Yup, I would say that we are getting into the any minute now territory for the change and midnight snack.
Opps! The Air Conditioning just kicked in. That’s bad (this often wakes him up if he is anywhere past 2-3 hours of sleep). Sure enough, I am hearing a few sounds on the baby monitor. Maybe if I type very softly.... Yea! The AC just turned itself off (stupid AC!). Maybe Lucas will go for the record tonight…just another hour.
When Lucas came into the world, many of my friends and coworkers told me that their children started sleeping through the night after 2 months and that Lucas was sure to do the same thing. Needless to say, Lucas has had other plans. :) ...well so much for the record, duty calls.....
Happy Birthday to Killian Jameson Sharp Woods! Born on the 25th of May to David and Jen Woods, weighing in at 7# 11 oz and 19½ inches of height. By all accounts, both Mom and Killian are doing great. I don’t have any pictures to offer, but I suspect that they will soon show up on the Wood’s Family PhotoGrove. Stay tuned.
I have decided to make part of my architecture site available for public use/viewing. This is a project that I have been working on sporadically for some time now (you would laugh if you knew how long....so I cant tell you!). I am proud to say that I learned and wrote all of the code myself. This of course will be painfully obvious to any one who knows a thing or two about html and the like. Please keep your scoffs to a minimum. :)
The architecture site is at a point where it can benefit greatly from the comments and links provided by visitors. Lots of interaction will enrich the site and give it a sense of purpose. Additionally, interaction will encourage the site’s creator to make improvements. Please feel free to participate no matter what your background is. Thanks very much for your support!
Well as usual, I am a bit behind the internet power curve. I just discovered that movable type (the software used to create this site) is about to start charging a fee for services. This is of course utterly unsat. I would have known this dire bit of news sooner if I had paid a little more attention to my friends’ weblogs...but I have been bad, and have not done this. Alas....
The bottom line is that frantzworkshop.com will be moving someway, somehow, and somewhere in the nearish future. (I know, that doesn’t sound like much of a plan. But don’t worry, things will work out. Lucas, is sure to keep me strait)
The good news is that, for the most part, I have no idea how to use any of the tools included with the movable type ware. So, I probably wont even feel a difference and you (my devoted following of 3 or 4 readers) probably wont see much of a difference. :)
Cheers and good night to all!
Well so much for my John Wayne style tax filing (see 14 and 15 April entries): Uncle Sam wrote back to tell Rheagan and I that we had misfiled our 2003 tax return. What is more, Uncle S took it upon himself to correct the return for us! Now our refund is going to be a third bigger than we expected. Craziness! How often is it that Uncle S makes after-the-fact corrections in the citizen’s favor? I am truly surprised…and pleased (of course). God Bless America!
Then again, here we are in a big budget crises and Uncle Sam is paying someone to make sure that I pay less taxes than expected....
Ok, so I’m a big fat fibber. I promised that I would be writing more and instead I take an additional 2-week hiatus from writing...sorry about that.
As usual, work has been going at a crazy pace. The Wing is ramping up for yet another deployment to the dear old ‘sandbox’ (that’s Marine Corps speak for South West Asia). The Wing’s deployment preparation is making it difficult for me to get my out-processing done…lots of folks are tied up with more important things than me. :) It is a very good thing that I still have a good bit of time left: only 3 ½ week left until Rheagan, Lucas and I pull out of North Carolina. WooHoo! Here is the rough break down of the Frantz family schedule for this summer (please keep in mind that this is only about a 75% solution):
- 11 June: last day of work with the 4th Fighter Wing
- 12 or 13 June: Lucas, Rheagan, and I drive up to Gambrills MD to see Grandma and Granddad
- 16 June: Lucas, Rheagan, and I fly to San Diego to see Great Grandma Mugsey and Grand Uncle Dick Dad (If you think that all of these titles are confusing, imagine how Lucas feels…)
- 22 June: Lucas, Rheagan, and I return to Gambrills MD
- 24 June: Lucas, Rheagan, and I fly to Porland Maine to see Great Grandma and Great Granddad Frantz
- 30 June (I think): Lucas, Rheagan, and I return to Gambrills MD
- 4 July: Lucas is Christened at the Church of the Good Shepard in Galax VA (I’m am still setting this up, so this is tentative: will know for sure in a few days )
- 6 July: I report to Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio for the basic Civil Engineer Officer’s course. This will last until 30 August. In the meantime Lucas and Rheagan are going to visit all of the various Great Grandparents, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles in Virginia, Maryland, and Missouri.
- 31 August: The three of us are off to Tokyo Japan!
--> Happy 3 year anniversary to David and Jennifer Woods! My hat’s off to you.
Gasp* Sigh* and Wheeew! The marathon is over! Very sorry, that I have not posted to this site in such a long while. I have been utterly swamped with projects and deadlines. For who knows what reason, fate managed to cram all of my major deadlines into a 4 day period (30 Apr-4 May). A period of time which happened to co inside with a must attend out-of-town wedding (1-May, Brian and Carry O’Quinn --- congratulations!!). Thus, I was unable to get work done over the weekend in preparation for Monday and Tuesday… This last Monday was the awards lunch for 2003 Combined Federal Campaign for which I am the Seymour Johnson/Greater Goldsboro Area project officer. This Awards Lunch was the final event of a monster sized fundraising campaign that I have been directing for the last 6 months. I am very glad that it is over. I will spare you the details... Yesterday I took the final exam for my Business-Law class, for which I have been desperately cramming over the last several days. I feel confidant that I passed the exam…not sure if I got an A or not though. Cross your fingers… Also, Lucas had his 2 month physical yesterday, and it is official, Aside from being fully healthy, Lucas is growing like a weed on steroids. He has already doubled his birth weight!
In theory, things are back to 'normal' for me, so I should be able to keep the writing up.
