Improved Kendo

In the last few weeks I have really noticed a big improvement in my kendo. My shots are more precise, my body is more relaxed, and my spirit is more agile (less likely to be dominated).

On the other hand, I am still just as likely to hurt my self vice my opponent. With Kendo, everything is salted with humility.

On a Side Note

Lucas has told me that he feels that he will be the next member of the Supreme Court....he said something about “comparable qualifications”....
lol

Art Quiz Answer

As Luxfx pointed out a few days ago, the sculpture from Thursday’s post is by Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957). It is called ‘Endless Column’and is located in Târgu-Jiu, Romania.

Once upon a time I was adamantly against Brancusi. However, a few years ago I read that he designed ‘Bird in Space’ by taking a long photograph exposure of a plucked guitar string and then reproducing this as static sculpture. This is a beautiful idea.

‘Endless Column’ is not my favorite, but I find it fascinating that it was almost built as a functional skyscraper in the United States. Instead of the 'Windy City', Chicago could be called 'Intestine Town'...

Art Quiz #2

Ok, this one should be a bit easier: Name the Artist for 5 points. Name the sculpture for 5 points. Name the location(country) for 10 points.

This has got to be some kind of record for me > four strait posts on consecutive days! lol

#2 on the way!

As some of you already know, Lucas is going to meet his baby brother or sister sometime in May of this coming year. :)

Unfortunately, I will most likely be away from home "implementing U.S. foreign policy" on #2's birthday. (sorry to be so vague...)

Please feel free to send lots of happy email to Rheagan during the upcoming months. Also, all visits from family and friends are most welcome.

VT Football

Virginia Tech’s football team is presently ranked #3 of 119 Division 1 college football programs. This seems like a great thing. Yet it is not. I find my self losing concentration during the day as I ponder whether or not VT will win the next game, whether Marcus Vic will win the Heisman Trophy, whether VT will become the eventual national champion of the 2005 college football season. It’s like I am addicted to some sort of drug called ‘football’. I am getting to the point where I spend more time reading about sports rather then participating in sports. This makes no since. Surely there must be some better way to expend my ponderings and imaginations. It’s almost as though I should route for my team to loose so that I can break out of this trance…

Site Updates

For a few hours during each of the past few evenings, I have been trying to sort out a few of the idiosyncrasies on the ol' website. Coding is not one my natural born skills...so progress has been slow and meandering...but also strangely addictive. (I even started trying to sort out the Architecture Site that I put together last year (that will take a bit more time dust off though)). Here it is midnight again and I must be up at 0520. *sigh*
